Krishna Janmashtami known as “Sri Krishna Jayanti” is one of the most famous and holiest festival celebrated amongst the Hindus and the dedicated devotees of Lord Krishna. Janmashtami is celebrated to mark the birth anniversary of Krishna and is celebrated on the eighth day of Krishna Paksha according to the Hindu calendar. Krishna Janmashtami is a festival usually celebrated in August, and it marks the birth of the Hindu god Krishna, who is an incarnation of Lord Vishnu. The festival is celebrated on the Ashtami or eighth day of Krishna Paksha. A famous game that is played on the auspicious occasion of Janmashtami is DahiHandi and is mainly played in Maharashtra. The Janmashtami of Vrindavan and Mathura, where Lord Krishna had spent most of his childhood, is world-famous and is celebrated with great endeavour.

It is a joyful festival for the devotees of Lord Krishna all around the globe and the Hindus. It is a festival that brings people together and spreads love and harmony. Mathura and Vrindavan are the 2 famous places that are related to the childhood of  Krishna. The festival of Janmashtami there is dazzling. Rasa Leela is a distinctive feature of the Janmashtami in Mathura and Vrindavan. It portrays the childhood of Lord Krishna and the playful yet miraculous nature of his.

Hindu’s Festival

The Hindu lord, Vishnu and his incarnations constitute a significant part of the Hindu Mythology.  Sri Krishna is one of his most essential incarnations. Lord Krishna was born on Krishna Paksha in the month of Shraavana on the Ashtami Tithi, and this day is known as Krishna Janmashtami and is celebrated with great joy every year.

On the auspicious day of the sacred tithi of Janmashtami, people belonging to all age groups actively take part in the festivity. Children dress up like Lord Krishna and are very excited to take part in the plays. The elders engage themselves in the arrangement of the puja and fast for it all day long. They also cook prasad for the puja & after midnight when the puja is done. They break their fast with the prasad and sweets offered to them.

Famous Sports

Where an earthen pot or matki is tied high from the ground. a group forms a human pyramid to hit the matki filled with curd.  People decorate their houses beautifully and follow many rituals. Missionary charities like ISKCON organize programmes all over the world on the occasion of Janmashtami where thousands of people gather and chant, pray, and celebrate all day long.
